JASON PACE (Creator and Executive Director)

Jason earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education/Child Development at Wagner College in New York. Jason has an extensive background in both education and in the performing arts. A veteran actor, he is best known for his series regular role in the UPN/CW hit sitcom “Girlfriends” as Dr. Todd Garrett. He is also considered one of the top voice-over artists in Los Angeles, and has been heard in films such as Happy Feet, Happy Feet 2, The Lego Movie, Spongebob 2 Movie and many others.
As a way to give back to the community and to combat the budget cuts effecting Los Angeles schools, Jason officially founded Children’s Playhouse Theater, A Performing Arts School & Camp for Children in 2010. CPT’s curriculum has benefited over 4,000 students in the Los Angeles community. It’s continued goal is to help support the voice of children and to ensure that all children of the LA community experience the benefits of the performing arts.

In addition to the Children’s Playhouse Theater curriculum, Jason began incorporating his passion for Psychology & Acting to create “The Psychology of Acting” workshop series. The workshops are based in Jungian & Depth Psychology. He has been asked to teach these workshops throughout Los Angeles and New York and has most recently taught them at Disney as part of their Diversity Program, as well as at Yale University in their Summer Film Institute. He includes these elements in the CPT Program as well.
As a father of three, educator and head coach of various sports programs his goal is to ensure that children are understood and empowered.

OUR PROGRAMS AT CHILDREN’S PLAYHOUSE THEATER:

ALL DAY WINTER, SPRING & SUMMER CAMP:

Our ALL DAY WEEKLY CAMP PROGRAM immerses our students in all forms of the Performing Arts. Each Camp Week is a unique and different experience as we conclude every Friday with a play the student’s help create, write, costume & perform in. Our weekly sessions begin daily at 9AM and conclude at 3PM with an optional AFTER PROGRAM CARE for interested parents. Doors open for a free Early Drop Off at 8:30AM. Throughout the week, students learn the art of Improvisation, Silly Character creations & Sketch Comedy, writing and recording their own original song during the Music portion of our program. They also learn the art of Acting, Scene Study, Scene Writing, Stand Up Comedy, Stage Combat & other fun activities as we start the process of creating our end of week show. Our hands on Art Program consists of costuming, prop making, creating their own Comic Strip, mask making, painting, charcoals and other arts & craft lessons. They also learn the art of Hip-Hop Dance and many fun sports with our out door yard activities and recess time.

WEEKEND WORKSHOPS:

Children’s Playhouse Theater’s Workshops are geared to introduce the students to the performing arts and their natural creative talents. Included in these workshops are the various topics from our above mentioned Summer Camp Program.
CPT also offers these workshops to teens & young adults of the Los Angeles Community. These workshops focus on the Introduction of Acting, Improvisation & Comedy, Art, Dance & Music. We are committed to serve those who are underserved in the educational system of the Los Angeles Community and to provide the benefits of our programs to the inner city children. These workshops are a fun and ideal way to introduce students to the benefit of the Arts and to the fun we have at CPT!

SEMESTER PROGRAM & ON GOING CLASS:

Our on-going program is focussed and structured for students age Kindergarten to 13 and for ALL levels of experience. The 16 week session concludes with an original show created, written, and performed by the class at The Lillian heater in Hollywood. The students are involved in their professional Equity styled show with music, sound effects, make up, costumes, sets, lights, props & a stage manager.
Our program gives students an opportunity to exercise and strengthen their natural creative talents while gaining self-confidence and knowledge through our acting, creative writing, improvisation, art, comedy and movement exercises. This is a fun and exciting class that incorporates all that we do at Children’s Playhouse Theater while taking our students to a higher level of awareness, talent and confidence.
